Je ziet het van een afstand aankomen: de handjes, het duwen, de tranen. En je hoort jezelf zeggen wat elke ouder zegt, &#8220;samen spelen h\u00e8&#8221;, terwijl je eigenlijk al weet dat het niet gaat werken. Samen spelen leren klinkt als iets wat je een kind bijbrengt. Het ene kind is gul, het andere niet, en aan ons de taak om daar iets aan te doen. Dus praten we over beurten, zetten we een timer, en leggen we voor de tiende keer uit dat een ander kind ook een keer mag.<\/p><p>Kijk ondertussen eens naar wat er op de vloer ligt. De loopauto heeft \u00e9\u00e9n zadel. De duwwagen \u00e9\u00e9n stang. De knikkerbaan \u00e9\u00e9n trechter waar de knikkers in gaan. Bijna alles wat we in huis halen is gemaakt voor \u00e9\u00e9n paar handen.<\/p><p>En dan vragen we een kind van drie om iets te doen wat het materiaal zelf niet toelaat. Dat is geen opvoedprobleem, dat is een ontwerpprobleem.<\/p><div class=\"blog-highlight\">Een kind dat niet wil delen is meestal geen ego\u00efstisch kind. Het is een kind met speelgoed waar maar \u00e9\u00e9n plek in zit.<\/div><h2>Wat er bij een kind van drie echt gebeurt<\/h2><p>Rond twee jaar spelen kinderen n\u00e1\u00e1st elkaar. Zelfde kamer, zelfde soort blokken, twee volledig gescheiden werelden. Dat heet parallel spel en het is precies goed zo. Ze oefenen nog met hun eigen plan, niet met dat van iemand anders.<\/p><p>Ergens tussen drie en vijf kantelt dat. Je kind merkt dat de ander idee\u00ebn heeft. Dat er iets te overleggen valt. Dat een toren hoger wordt als je hem met zijn twee\u00ebn bouwt.<\/p><p>Maar dat kantelpunt komt niet op commando. Het komt als er iets ligt waar twee kinderen tegelijk iets mee kunnen. Zonder dat er iemand hoeft te wachten tot de ander klaar is.<\/p><h2>Speelgoed met meer dan \u00e9\u00e9n ingang<\/h2><p>Het verschil zit niet in duur of goedkoop, en ook niet in hout of plastic. Het zit in de vraag: kunnen er twee kinderen tegelijk bij?<\/p><ul><li><strong>Bouwmateriaal zonder eindpunt:<\/strong> blokken, magnetische tegels, plankjes. Er is geen &#8220;af&#8221;, dus ook niets om te winnen.<\/li><li><strong>Speelgoed met rollen erin:<\/strong> een keukentje, een garage, een winkeltje. De \u00e9\u00e9n kookt, de ander eet. Twee taken, geen strijd.<\/li><li><strong>Iets dat groter is dan \u00e9\u00e9n kind:<\/strong> een treinbaan die de halve kamer door loopt, een knikkerbaan die blijft omvallen. Te veel werk voor \u00e9\u00e9n paar handen.<\/li><li><strong>Spellen waarin je samen tegen het spel speelt:<\/strong> geen winnaar, dus ook geen verliezer die de tafel omgooit.<\/li><\/ul><p>Let op wat er dan gebeurt: je hoeft niet meer te bemiddelen. Daar valt weinig aan te versnellen.<\/p><p>Wat wel kan: zorgen dat het speelgoed in huis meebeweegt met de fase waar je kind nu in zit. Een kind van twee heeft ander materiaal nodig dan datzelfde kind een jaar later, en die fases duren korter dan de spullen meegaan.
